Emily works as a freelance lighting designer in off-broadway and regional spaces. She moved to New York in 2017 to complete her time as the Hemsley Intern, after which she continued work as a freelance designer and associate. Previously named one of LDI’s 30 Under 30 Upcoming Designers, she continues to design opera, theatre, and dance—pursuing work that seeks to uproot dormancy the way only art can.

She has worked as the Associate Lighting Director for San Francisco Opera, has toured as the sub-lighting director for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, and has mentored design students at Pace University, and NYU. She has guest lectured at Vassar University, Hunter College, and Hollins University and was an adjunct professor at NYU for the 2024-2025 school year. She has been the associate lighting designer on various Off-Broadway productions. She is currently the Associate Lighting Director for the New York City Ballet.
