Lee has been an executive manager in the entertainment lighting industry for over 30 years. From an early beginning in 1978 as Kliegl’s West Coast Regional Sales Manager to ultimately managing the regional office of Vari-Lite New York, Lee has been an influential presence in the entertainment lighting industry. Together with a team of exceptionally talented people including Jennie Ryan, Kevin Lawson, Laura Frank, Derek Healy, Brian Dawson, Kat Fantaski, Dan Bonitsky, and many others, Lee and the VLNY team helped usher in the implementation and acceptance of automated lighting on Broadway.
Lee holds a Master’s degree in secondary education from NYU and has been teaching science and theater lighting to high school students at Berkshire Waldorf High School for the past decade. Additionally, as a faculty member at Lamont-Doherty’s Secondary School Field Research Program, Lee has mentored many high school students from all backgrounds every summer for the past nine years.
In both of her career trajectories, it has always been Lee’s ultimate goal to provide students and professionals with support and opportunities to build skills, confidence, and professional networks to achieve individual goals. Implementing what she’s learned in both careers, Lee’s current goal is to build SSD’s high school program in order to offer high school students an opportunity to learn and grow in confidence and ability through this exceptional program.
