A champion for artists and New York City’s arts communities, JANE PENN has spent a career promoting best practices and alternative ways of addressing the field’s most pressing issues, including access, affordability and equity. During a 20+ year career, Jane Penn has raised close to $150 million and counseled dozens of non- profits on numerous projects, supporting various sectors and constituencies. Immensely grateful to have worked at some of New York City’s most respected cultural institutions, helping them navigate periods of transition and growth,
and successfully undertake major funding campaigns. In 2003, she was enlisted by The Foundation Center to provide consulting services in its First Steps/Next Steps program, designed for ‘under-resourced’ non-profits looking to master more entrepreneurial approaches in their fundraising, strategic planning and communications. On the education front, Jane Penn has served as an evaluator and panelist for private and public arts councils, including New York Foundation for the Arts, the New Jersey State Arts Council, Mid-Atlantic Arts Council and Lower
Manhattan Cultural Council. She has lectured on arts administration in the graduate
departments of New York University and Brooklyn College. In 1999, she co-authored “The Dancers Resource Guide,” published by Watson-Gupnill.
